Cadet Summer Training Opportunities

Not sure what to do this summer? Cadet Summer Training offers an exciting opportunity for cadets to develop new skills, gain leadership experience, and take part in challenging and rewarding activities—all while receiving a training bonus.

Cadets who participate in summer training return to their squadron with enhanced knowledge, confidence, and experience that directly contributes to the development of their unit and fellow cadets.

 
Air Cadet Summer Training

Air Cadet summer training offers a wide range of courses designed to support personal growth, leadership development, and aviation-related interests. Depending on eligibility and selection, cadets may receive training in areas such as:

  • Leadership and instructional techniques
  • Aviation and aerospace studies
  • Flying and gliding
  • Fitness and sports
  • Survival training
  • Military band and pipes and drums
  • Aviation technology
  • Marksmanship

Courses are offered at various levels, including familiarization, basic, advanced, and national-level training.

 
Types of Summer Training Opportunities

Cadet Training Centre (CTC) Courses

Cadets who have completed at least their second year of training may be eligible to apply for in-person courses hosted at Cadet Training Centres (CTCs) across Canada.

  • Courses typically range from 2 to 7 weeks in length
  • Training is conducted at CTC locations nationwide
  • Cadets receive structured instruction, accommodation, meals, and a training bonus

 National Cadet Advisory Council (NCAC)

The National Cadet Advisory Council provides senior cadets with a unique leadership opportunity.

  • Hosted by the Commander, Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group
  • Conducted over a six-week training period at selected CTCs
  • Enables direct engagement between senior cadets and CJCR leadership
  • Focuses on cadet program development, leadership, and national-level perspectives

 Technology and Digital Learning Centre (TDLC)

Cadet Summer Training also includes digital learning opportunities delivered through the Technology and Digital Learning Centre (TDLC).

  • E-learning courses available to cadets across Canada
  • Allows participation without travel
  • Focuses on modern skills, leadership, and professional development

 Staff Cadet Opportunities

Cadets who are 16 years of age or older may apply for Staff Cadet positions.

Staff Cadet opportunities may include employment at:

  • Cadet Training Centres (CTCs)
  • The Technology and Digital Learning Centre (TDLC)
  • Digital internship placements

Staff Cadets gain valuable leadership, instructional, and workplace experience while receiving paid employment during the summer.
